Qualification Criteria
Any worthwhile Qualification should provide evidence of knowledge and professionalism. Consequently, the “Diploma in Retail Floorcoverings” is based on competence rather than experience. Knowledge and ability will be demonstrated through written examination.
Wherever possible, the testing of knowledge is against the appropriate British Standards. For example, we refer to BS5325 in respect of Planning, EN1307 in respect of carpet performance and BS5808 for carpet underlays.
Where this is not possible, the appropriate level of knowledge will be determined by the Standards Committee authorised to undertake that task by the retailers supporting this initiative. The committee will be supported by advice given by authoritative and recognised trade bodies.
